Expander Cards
The Simplifi Digital AV Expander allows legacy audio and video devices to be connected to your Media Center for display on the television monitor. The AV Expander integrates within the Media Center’s user interface a provides all of the audio and video processing, including video scaling (high speed or high resolution modes), so the user just pushes a button on the remote control and the alternate sources are displayed full screen on the television monitor. Since all audio and video processing is performed by the Media Center, the AV Expander is a perfect choice for mixing traditional video sources, such as VCR’s, game consoles, and analog video cameras with the Media Center’s high resolution video output. You can use a high quality DVI connection from the Media Center to the monitor and still connect to your legacy devices without any external hardware.
The AV Expander application supports either a remote control or a keyboard for control. Media Center messages are displayed as an alert icon over live video (user selectable). The text labeling for the four AV source buttons can be selected from a list (S-VIDEO, COMPOSITE, VCR, CAMERA, GAME CONSOLE) to match each device that is connected to the AV Expander. An optional remote control with four additional buttons for convenient source selection is available.
