How does DLP 3D work?
Stereoscopic vision occurs because people see slightly differenct perspectives from their left and right eyes. Our brains fuse these together into a single image, and the differences between the two views enable us to perceive depth.
The components of the DLP 3D-PC, software, DLP monitor, and shutter glasses-all work together to create and present two different views to the user to generate apparent depth on a flat screen.
The PC supplies the horsepower to do the 2D to 3D conversion. The software analyzes video and stills and applies very sophisticated algorithms to the data streams to generate left and right and views, which then are sent to the monitor over HDMI.
The DLP monitor then presents each view in an alternating manner-first a left eye view, then a right eye view. This happens very quickly-120Hz, which is so fast people cannot see it.
The shutter glasses are synced up to the monitor, so that when a left eye view is presented, the left eye can see the image, while the right eye cannot.
The result is a stunning realistic viewing experience.
